Serendipity Scrapbooks--DT Entry 1

This is my first entry for the Design Team Call at Serendipity Scrapbooks. We were required to submit a total of 5 items, one of which was an altered project. If kids are willing, then I'm going to post an entry a day with each one being a one part of my submission.

I bought three of these little tins right before Christmas at Target. They were in the $ Spot. I bought two of them for the boys' stockings and the other one for me to play with. When I was trying to come up with my altered project, I finally remembered that I had this. I thought it would be a cute way to keep Ali's school pictures.

The tin had Cars all over it so I roughed it up with steel wool (Making Memories Distress Kit) and painted gesso (Plaid) over it. I coated it a couple of times. After it dried, I painted it red (Making Memories). I used a school scrapbook kit by Pebbles. I measured the front and back and cut a piece to fit and rounded the corners (Stampin' Up!) and then used chalk ink to finish the edges (Clearsnap). I made an accordion album out of Naturals Ivory cardstock (SU!). There are enough pages for 2 pictures a year. Ali's school usually takes a Fall picture and a Spring one. I cut pieces of patterned paper to fit the inside top and bottom, rounded and chalked the edges, and adhered them to the tin. I made a little journaling block to put in the inside front. The pencil cutout is from CK Combo disk. Then, I adhered the album pages to the inside back. I added Ali's pictures, writing the grade and her teacher's name on each one. Ribbon was added and I was done!! Now I either need to confiscate the ones the boys got for Christmas or find some more so I can make them for their school pictures also!!
