Serendipity Scrapbooks April Review Projects that it is the middle of April, I'll finally post my DT projects. Sheesh, I'm slow!! This month Kristen sent me kitchen-y stuff...yep to the anti-cook!! Brannon got a good laugh and asked me if I was actually going to cook something so I'd have something to do my layouts on. He's such a pain sometimes! The paper is from Flair Designs (Farmer's Market, What's Cooking, Fresh from the Vine, and Fruit Stand). She also sent me those little felt birds from Maya Road and a scallop lace book from Magistical Memories. I had fun once I got started! Hope you like what I came up with!!!

Want to know how I made my photo the background page??? Click here for my tutorial on Crop Addict. Hope you enjoy the projects!!! For a detailed list of the supplies I used, visit my gallery at Serendipity Scrapbooks.

Around the World

Here's another layout using Crop Addict's March Kit. This kit has sold out I believe but April's is sure to get the optional add-on too!!

Since the kit was full of travel themed paper and embellishments and I'm not a traveler in the true sense of the word, I decided to take a picture of my library books and do a layout about how I love to read. It was a fun layout to do and one of my more favorite ones right now. I'm really happy about how it turned out.

I've got a lot more kits to play with and I'm in a big slump. Part of that is from being sick but I'm starting to get over all that. I'm ready to dig in and play some!! I get to play with Crop Addict's manufacturer kit this month so I'm really excited about that. And, I get to play with Serendipity's Just Enough kit. Plus, I bought Serendipity's Just Enough and the Altering kits for this month and Crop Addict's April kit and add-on. So I'm all set for some scrappy inspiration!! I've got a lot left over from last month's kits too. I've been in kit clubs before but these two just far outweigh anyone else! And the message boards are so much's easy to make friends on them.

Last night we had some really severe weather...enough that we went to the tornado shelter at Ali's school for a few hours. We finally made it home after 11:30 but stayed up a lot longer to make sure we wouldn't need to go back. The north part of town got it the worst. They had straight-line winds (the jury is still out on whether it was actually a tornado or not) and baseball to softball size hail that busted out a lot of windows. A lot of trees are down too. Streets that have never had flooding before are flooding. A lot of the schools had damage too so Ali got to stay home today...not sure if they can go back tomorrow or not. My sister's town got hit with something that might have been a tornado too but she's ok too. We were supposed to get it again today but it stayed way south of us but is right at my in-laws. Hopefully, everything will be ok there too.

If I don't get to post again this week, everyone have a great weekend!!!

Serendipity Scrapbooks Mad Hatter Online Crop

We are getting ready for another exciting crop at Serendipity Scrapbooks. Instead of re-inventing the wheel I'm just going to cut and paste the information here. I hope all of you come play! (Stacey found this cute little image so I copied it's the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.)
You are cordially invited to our Mad Hatter Tea Party at Serendipity Scrapbooks. Since Mother's Day is right around the corner we thought that a Tea Party would be appropriate. So come on out and celebrate the many different hats we wear as women. There might be even a little May Day Celebration thrown in to our Tea Party. (note: crumpets and tea will be served!) The Mad Hatter Tea Party will begin on Friday April 25th through Sunday April 27th. We will also have pre crop challenges that will begin on Friday April 18th. All challenges will be posted by 12 noon est/9am pacific. Our awesome Design Team is busy coming up with some really neat challenges and games to keep you inspired. The Mad Hatter Tea Party will consist of 20 prizes to be had in one small weekend. Oh and you can't forget about our Blue Light Specials. They can be any where from 20% off to 50% off of specific items. Everyone loves our Blue Light Specials and you never know when they will appear over the weekend. You can also compete for points to be crowned Alice in Wonderland of our Tea Party. We hope to see you there for some wonderful inspiration and loads of fun.
Hope to see you there!!!

Boys Cry Too

I made this using Crop Addict's March Kit and add-on. The kit had a lot of travel themed products in it (as well as some We R Memory Keepers stuff that I haven't dug into yet). We haven't really traveled that much but I love the circles and plaids and thought it'd be perfect for a boy page. I don't remember what Colton was crying about but to be so sad, he looks so cute!! I have another layout I just did with the travel papers and it has nothing to do with a vacation either! Just waiting on my glue to dry!!

patterned paper: Cloud 9 Designs (Travel Dots, Travel Plaid)
cardstock: Bazzill (Lemonade)
cs piece: The Paper Loft (Adventure Chips)
cs heart: Making Memories
cs stickers: Cloud 9 (Travel: Thought Starter, Elements)

chipboard alpha: Heidi Swapp (boys, too); Making Memories (cry)
marker: Stampin' Up!
pigment ink: SU!
pen: American Crafts (Slick Writer)
foam adhesive: SU!

Last Two Serendipity March Projects

Finally...the last two projects I did with Serendipity Scrapbooks March Altered Kit. Stay tuned...this is a new month, so that means new DT projects to post plus I have some Crop Addict projects to post too.

Kit items:

patterned paper: American Crafts (Metropolitan: Café); Dream Street (Sweet Confection: Blueberry Parfait)
cardstock: Bazzill (blue)
glitter: Doodlebug Designs (Tangerine)
glitter chipboard letters: Doodlebug Designs

Non-kit items:
cardstock: Bazzill (Black Tie)
white gel pen: Uni-ball Signo
rhinestone brads: Stampin’ Up!
foam adhesive: SU!
paper piercer: Making Memories
photo turns and brads: Creative Impressions
rub-ons: Heidi Swapp
flower jewel: Heidi Swapp

1. Cut scallop edge on blue cardstock (I used another piece of Bazzill scallop paper for a pattern. You can also freehand or use a die-cut machine or corner rounder.) Doodle with white gel pen.
2. Trim Café paper to 11 x 11”. Adhere scallop piece on side.
3. Cut flower out of Blueberry Parfait paper. Adhere to Café.
4. Dab glue in dots following same pattern as on the Dream Street paper then the flowers were cut from. Apply glitter and tap off excess.
5. Cut out small flowers from Blueberry Parfait. Add rhinestone brads to centers and adhere to centers of blue flowers using foam adhesive.
6. Following patterns on Café paper, punch holes using a paper piercer. Now take a long break because you hand is really going to be hurting!
7. Print a 5 x 7 photo. Adhere to right-side of page, slightly tucking under flower. Add rub-on, jewel, and photo turns.
8. Adhere rub-ons under photo.
9. Adhere title, turning some of the letters to change it up a bit.

Kit items:

patterned paper: Sassafras Lass (Serendipity Scrumptious: Tutti Frutti); American Crafts (Metropolitan: Rooftop Garden)
lace cardstock: KI Memories (Pop Culture: Flower Child Socialite)
rub-ons: Fancy Pants (Splendor)

Non-kit items:

corner rounder: Stampin’ Up!
corner punch: Fiskars
pink cardstock: DMD
white pigment ink: SU!
ribbon: SU! and American Crafts
leafing pen: Krylon
pink rhinestones: unknown
flowers: Prima
foam adhesive: Miss Elizabeth
buttons: Autumn Leaves (Blackbird)
chipboard monogram: Cosmo Cricket
file kit: Basic Grey
pink emboss powder: SU!
2-Way Glue: EK Success
label maker: Around the Block
label tape: Dymo
gold brads: SU!
button studs: Scrapworks
Crop-a-Dile: We R Memory Keepers
spray adhesive: 3M Photo Mount
white thread

1. Use Sassafras Lass for background.
2. Using spray adhesive, layer lace paper on top.
3. Make mat for photo and round corners. Re-punch corners with decorative corner punch. Ink edges with white pigment ink (use heat gun to speed up drying time).
4. Use pink to mat the mat you just made. Round corners and ink edges. Adhere other mat and photo to this mat. Color in the decorative punch outs with gold leafing pen. Adhere rhinestones to corner of photo.
5. Apply rub-ons to photo.
6. Tie ribbon around photo and mats.
7. Adhere to page with foam adhesive.
8. Adhere flowers to page. Adhere buttons to flower centers (if you want to add stitching to your buttons, do it now so you don’t have to stitch through adhesive).
9. Cover chipboard monogram with Rooftop Garden. Smooth out edges with file kit.
10. Apply 2-way glue to edges of monogram and coat with embossing powder and melt with heat gun. Do this a little at a time so your glue doesn’t dry before you get the powder on it. Punch holes with Crop-a-Dile and place brads as shown. Tie a ribbon around monogram and adhere to page.
11. Journal using label maker and adhere to page.
12. Make bullet points with gold button studs. Add stitching to buttonholes.
13. Put pieces of tape on back of layout over the stitching and the studs to keep your page from hanging when putting it in an album.
