October Demo Planner Challenge

I just finished this card for October's Demonstrator Planner Challenge on SCS. This is a stamp set that was in last year's Holiday Mini catalog. I didn't get it at the time but really did want it. So, I was really excited when it made the catalog this year!!

Supplies (all from SU!): stamps (Thoroughly Thankful); cardstock (Always Artichoke, Pumpkin Pie, Elegant Eggplant, Naturals Ivory); ink (Close to Cocoa, Elegant Eggplant, Always Artichoke, More Mustard, Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie, Jet Black Staz-On); extras (Jersey Ribbon Originals, natural hemp, Stampin' Dimensionals)

More Halloween Projects

I'm not sure why I'm so in to all the Halloween projects this year! I need to redirect that energy and get my house decorated for the kids. Last year, I didn't do anything but carve a couple of pumpkins and Ali got so mad at me about it. Just have to get Brannon in the attic to drag it all down!

I actually started with the pouch on these and then liked the front so much I made it into a card, too. The pouch is the same as the Christmas one down a post or two...now just Halloweeny! I love this stamp set! I put off getting it last year but this time I just had to have it!

Supplies (all from Stampin' Up!): Stamps (Home is Where the Haunt Is, All Holidays); cardstock (Really Rust, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White); patterned paper (Creepy Crawly Designer Series Paper); ink (Basic Black Classic, Really Rust Classic, Summer Sun Classic, More Mustard Classic, Close to Cocoa Classic); ribbon (Basic Black narrow grosgrain); extras (Stampin' Dimensionals, black eyelets, sponge, tag corner punch, linen thread, natural hemp, 1/16 handheld punch)

I have a workshop Friday night and this is one of our make n takes...shhh...don't tell anyone so it'll be a surprise!! This is a 2-4-6-8 box. All you have to do is take a 1/2 sheet of cardstock (8 1/2 x 5 1/2), and turn it lengthwise (long sides at top and bottom). Score it at the 2, 4, 6, and 8 inch marks. Now, turn it the other way with the short ends at the top and bottom and score at the 2 inch mark. You will have one side that is only 1/2 inch. Cut out the 1/2 x 2 inch piece (save this and you can use it for a tag to finish your box later on). Cut the 2 inch score marks up to the long two inch line. These will be your box bottom flaps. I like to cut 3 of the flaps at an angle on each side so they will fold down better but it's up to you on what you prefer. Crease all the rest of your score marks. If you want the torn top, do it now before you assemble your box. Put sticky strip on the 1/2 tab and line up with other edge to form box. Fold in your bottom flaps and adhere as necessary...don't forget to leave the flap that you fold down first adhesive free so anything you stick in the box doesn't stick to the bottom (yep...learned that the hard way!). Decorate as desired. If you are going to stamp your box, it is better to do it before you assemble it. Now, if you didn't tear the top edge, you can leave the box open and attach a handle or ribbon. Or, you can line the top edge together and press the sides in (think milk carton) and punch holes through to tie ribbon. You can also use a rectangle punch and punch the sides where you have it pinched and tie the ribbon around using the notches to hold it. If you want pictures with the directions, let me know and I'll make a tutorial out of it. I know it can get confusing trying to read directions...I usually need pictures too. So just leave me a comment if you want a tutorial out of it!
